Fundraise by Walking

Planning your walk (or hike)

Following these steps can help you plan a successful walk & get the most out of your fundraising experience:

1

Choose your walking route

Select a route that suits your abilities. You may want to keep it flat or prefer the challenge of hills and undulating terrain. Keep your safety at heart. Check out Walking Britain for some inspiring routes acorss the UK.

2

Select your event date

Pick a date that suits you. Give yourself enough time to train and gain sponsorship. Check that there are no disruptions to your route on your selected date. Also consider the possible weather for the date of your event and plan accordingly.

3

Consider company

Walking with at least one other person can be very beneficial. The bigger the group, the wider your fundraising network becomes. If you do choose to walk alone, make sure you inform others of your route and event date/times.

4

Create a JustGiving.com page

JustGiving is a brilliant way of fundraising. It’s easy to set up and share your page with your friends, family and co-workers. It takes the hassle out of collecting cash and the money comes directly to the charity.

5

Register your event with us

Registering your event with us gives us sight of what you are aiming to do and provides us with the opportunity to support you. We’ll get behind you and let our followers know that they can support you too.

6

Equip yourself

Make sure you have everything you need for a successful walk/hike. Good walking boots, poles (if desired), backpack, water bottle, snacks, map etc. Ensuring that you and your walking shoes are in good condition will help with a successful fundraising event.

“I love walking because it clears your mind, enriches the soul, takes away stress and opens up your eyes to a whole new world.”
